Free rank check
See where you rank against the firms nearest you.
Type your business name. You get your position on Google against your closest competitors, what they have that you do not, and where the gap is costing you work. Takes about twenty seconds.
Live Google data. No account, no card.
What does the free rank check measure?
The check gives you a narrow, useful view of local visibility. It finds the Google Business Profile that matches your business name and town, then returns nearby firms competing in the same local results. I compare the public signals a customer can see before deciding who to call. This is a starting point for a better question: why does one firm look easier to trust or contact than another?
What does it look at?
Type your business name and your town. I pull live Google data for the firms competing with you in the same local results. The comparison reads review volume, rating, recent review activity and whether the listing connects to a website. Where available, it also shows the public social and advertising signals returned for those firms. The displayed rank orders the returned businesses by review count, so a lower place does not mean Google thinks the business is worse.
What comes back?
The ranking itself, the named firms ahead of you, the review gap between you, and what your own customers wrote. That part is open, with no form in front of it. The written read goes further: where you stand in plain words, the gaps the firms above you are exploiting, and the three things worth fixing first. That one asks for your name and email, and I reply within 24 hours.
What happens next?
Nothing, unless you ask. This is the same first look I take before any audit call, so running it yourself tells you whether there is a gap worth talking about. If there is, the audit is free and takes thirty minutes. If there is not, you have your answer and you keep your afternoon.
What does it cost?
Nothing. No account and no card. If you want the gaps closed rather than listed, Core is £297 a month and Growth starts at £497, both published on the how it works page rather than held back for a call.
What can the rank check see, and what can it not see?
The check can see public local signals. It can show the review gap a prospective customer sees, whether reviews are recent and which firms have a website attached to the listing. Those signals matter because they shape the shortlist before a call. The result can also expose simple problems, such as the wrong business being matched or a profile with very little evidence beside stronger nearby competitors.
It cannot see inside your phone system, CRM, calendar, website analytics or advertising accounts. It does not know how many enquiries become appointments, whether somebody answers after hours or how profitable a booked job is. It cannot assess the quality of the work you deliver. A business with fewer reviews can still be the better business, and a busy profile can still lose every caller to slow follow-up.
Use the result as evidence for the next check, not as a complete diagnosis. If reviews are the obvious gap, inspect the way completed customers are asked. If the listing is strong but bookings are weak, look at response time and the path from call to calendar. Vantage uses this page to find where a deeper audit should begin. I do not treat one public score as proof of what the whole business needs.
What should you know before running the check?
What does the free rank check measure?
It finds your business and nearby firms in live Google local data, then compares review volume, rating, review recency and basic online presence. The displayed rank orders the returned firms by review count. It is a focused local visibility check, not a complete organic search audit or a judgement of service quality.
How long does the rank check take?
Most checks return in about twenty seconds. A broad business name, a weak Google Business Profile or an unusually small location can make matching harder. If the result looks wrong, try the name shown on your Google profile and a larger nearby town before treating the first result as final.
What happens to the data I enter?
Your business name and town are used to run the check. You do not need to enter contact details to see the open comparison. If you request the written read, the name, email and mobile you submit are used to prepare the result and let David reply. The privacy page explains the wider data handling terms.
Does the rank check cost anything?
No. The check is free, with no account and no card. The visible comparison is not locked behind a form. Contact details are requested only if you want the written interpretation and suggested priorities. There is no obligation to book an audit or buy a Vantage service afterwards.
What should I do with the result?
Check that the right business and area were matched, then look for the clearest gap between you and the firms above you. That may be review volume, review recency, a missing website or weak follow-up. Fix one evidenced constraint first, measure the change and rerun the check later instead of trying to copy every competitor at once.
